What if students could meet important educational standards while having fun, collaborating with friends, and bringing their own creative ideas to life? That's exactly what New Jersey Destination Imagination (NJDI) offers!
Destination Imagination (DI) is a student-driven, project-based learning program that develops creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving through hands-on challenges.
And it aligns remarkably well with New Jersey's educational standards!
Team Challenges support learning across seven subject areas:
English Language Arts: Writing, storytelling, research, and communication.
Science: Experimentation, investigation, and engineering design.
Mathematics: Measurement, geometry, and data interpretation.
Visual and Performing Arts: Creative expression, performance, and design.
Health and Physical Education: Communication, self-awareness, and healthy relationships.
Career Readiness and Life Skills: Originality, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving.
Computer Science and Design Thinking: Collaboration, brainstorming, and evaluating solutions.
The best part? Students don't just learn these skills—they actively use them! Teams develop their own solutions, experiment, build, revise, and present their creations. Along the way, they learn to work together, overcome obstacles, think independently, and embrace new ideas.
Why should parents, teachers, and administrators care?
For parents, DI builds confidence, independence, and resilience.
For teachers, it reinforces classroom learning through engaging, interdisciplinary experiences.
For school administrators, it provides an exciting opportunity to support multiple New Jersey learning standards while developing the creative thinkers and problem-solvers of tomorrow.
Destination Imagination makes learning an adventure—and prepares students for a future where creativity, collaboration, and innovation matter more than ever!
