2014 NJDI Appraiser Training

Appraiser training for the tournament will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at the Cedar Hill Elementary School from 9:30AM until 12:30PM. We are very pleased to be able to continue to use this school for our training sessions this year. Note that in order to make the best use of everyone's time, we are asking all appraisers to review the on-line training for Appraisers and Rules of the Road at  DI University prior to the training date. This will allow us to have one, shorter general session for all appraisers. Please note that the alternate date for the training (in case of inclement weather) is Saturday, March 1st, at the same place and times.

It is also important for all appraisers to register using the Appraiser Registration System prior to the training date. This will allow us to organize everyone into teams for each challenge.

2014 NJDI Affiliate Finals Tournament

We are pleased to announce that the 2014 NJDI Affiliate Finals Tournament will be at Ridge High School on Saturday, March 29th 2014.

Tournament Registration

Don't forget to register for the NJDI State Tournament after you purchase your membership for the 2013-2014 Program Year. Memberships  may be purchased by filling out and sending in the registration form obtained from the I DO DI homepage or you may purchase your membership online at Shop DI. When you receive your membership number, go to the Tournament Registration page and fill out the online form. You can also update an existing team registration by clicking the link. If you have any problems with registration, E-mail Tournament Registration Support.

Appraiser Registration

Our tournaments could not be held without the help of our volunteer appraisers. Anyone willing to assist us with this year's tournament should visit the Appraiser Registration page and fill out the on-line form. This form provides us with your contact information and your preferences for appraiser assignments. Preferences will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis, so register early. You can also update an existing appraiser registration by clicking the link. If you have any problems with registration, E-mail Tournament Registration Support. Team managers should be sure to indicate who their appraisers are when they register for the tournament so that their team will receive proper credit for supplying the required appraisers.

CLICK HERE FOR 2014 DESTINATION IMAGINATION VALEDICTORIAN SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Announcing two (yet to be named) Creativity Scholarships for NJDI participants:

Destination Imagination encourages every student to express their creativity every day, in as many ways possible.  Students who participate in DI are some of the most creative, artistic, resourceful, and imaginative students in the world.  Teamwork is essential to success in Destination Imagination.  Creating something that everyone is a part of and presenting it as a group is the most rewarding part of DI on competition day.  However, individual creativity is just as important as teamwork in life, through college, as well as into any career.

Destination Imagination would like you to express your individual creativity to demonstrate your qualifications for this scholarship.  To be eligible you must be a current and active participating member or Junior Team Manager of an NJDI school team, and be in your junior or senior year of high school.  You also must be competing with a team in this year’s State Finals competition.  Money may be used towards college tuition or expenses for the student who is granted the scholarship.  In order to apply for this scholarship you must submit a 4-minute or less DVD demonstrating your creativity no later than January 15, 2014

Some examples of creative talent might be:  creative readings of poetry or essays, technical demonstrations, dance, instrumental, humor, skits, art, sculpture, song, a short movie…you name it!  Your creativity is not limited to this list, and can be anything that you feel expresses yourself the best creatively.  We are looking for you to WOW us with your creativity so let your mind go wild!

The DVD must have your name, school and passport number, and a contact phone number clearly printed on it.

The DVDs will be viewed by an independent panel of judges who will select the two winners.  Two scholarships will be awarded on the day of the NJDI state finals, and the winning DVDs will be shown at the State Finals during the awards ceremony.  Anyone appearing in the video must provide a signed media release form.  If anyone appearing is under the age of 18, a parent must sign a media release form for the child’s image to be shown on video at the NJDI state finals.  Applicants over 18 can sign the form for themselves.  DVDs must be picked up after the awards at the state finals, and will not be returned after that day, any leftover DVDs will be destroyed.

DVDs must be mailed to:  NJDI, c/o 170 Highland Avenue, Highlands, NJ 07732-1810 no later than January 15, 2014.

PLEASE NOTE: This scholarship contest is completely separate from the valedictorian scholarship contest sponsored by Destination Imagination, Inc. ("DII").

Spotlight on You

NJDI wants to add a feature to our web and facebook pages to spotlight our wonderful teams. We're looking for team photos or videos that tell the world what you like about DI. If you'd like to participate, send an e-mail to the NJDI Webmaster (or to webmaster@njdi.org). Take care that any materials that you submit don't give away too much of this year's solution. If you have items from last year, that would be great!

2013 NJDI Affiliate Finals Tournament

We want to thank all the volunteers and participants who attended the 2013 Affiliate Finals Tournament held on March 23rd, 2013 at Robbinsville High School. We hope you had as much fun at the tournament as we did bringing it to you.

The Tournament Results are now available. We'll be adding more information and photos in the near future.

See our Photo Gallery of pictures taken at the 2013 tournament.

I Can Do It Myself

DI team members may download and print these business cards to remind adults that their solutions need to be theirs alone. Two styles are provided here, DI Business Card or IDODI Business Card, or you can make up your own.
