CREATIVITY SCHOLARSHIP
Destination Imagination encourages every student to express their creativity every day, in as many ways possible. Students who participate in DI are some of the most creative, artistic, resourceful, and imaginative students in the world. Creating something that everyone is a part of and presenting it as a group is one of the most rewarding parts of DI on competition day. However, individual creativity is just as important as teamwork through out life.
New Jersey Destination Imagination would like you to express your individual creativity to demonstrate your qualifications for a $1,000 scholarship. Some examples of creative talent might be: creative readings of poetry or essays, technical demonstrations, dance, instrumental, humor, skits, art, sculpture, song, a short movie…you name it! Your creativity is not limited to this list, and can be anything that you feel expresses yourself the best, creatively. We are looking for you to WOW us with your creativity so let your mind go wild!
To be eligible you must be a current and active participating member of an NJDI team, and be in your junior or senior year of high school. You also must be affiliated with a team in this year's State Finals competition. Money may be used towards college tuition or expenses for the student who is granted the scholarship. In order to apply for this scholarship you must submit a 4-minute or less VHS tape, video CD, audio CD, cassette tape, or DVD demonstrating your creativity, postmarked no later than February 25th, 2010. NOTE: ONLY THE FIRST FOUR MINUTES OF THE PRESENTATION WILL BE VIEWED. APPLICANTS SHOULD NOT USE THEIR NAME OR THE NAME OF THEIR SCHOOL DURING THEIR VIDEO PRESENTATION. Be sure to include the scholarship application with your entry.
The entries will be viewed by a panel of judges from the NJDI Scholarship Committee who will select the winner. The entry will be sent to the committee in a way to assure anonymity. The scholarship will be awarded on the day of the NJDI State Finals, and the winning entry may be shown at the State Finals during the awards ceremony. Anyone appearing in the video must provide a signed media release form. If anyone appearing is under the age of 18, a parent must sign a media release form for the child’s image to be shown on video at the NJDI State Finals. Applicants over 18 can sign the form for themselves. Entries must be picked up following the awards ceremony at the State Finals, and will not be returned to any participant after that date. Any left over entries will be destroyed.
Entries must be mailed to:
